Why depth?

We use this technology because it provides a very rich data set and because it's anonymous.

Pictured left is a profile-image of a person holding a flat object in-scene. Each individual white dot is a depth value.

Density's Depth Processing Units (DPUs) generate this data to understand human behavior.

If Density is hacked, can people be identified?

No. Density was purpose-built to only generate anonymous occupancy data. Even if our system were somehow compromised, Density does not generate or store any personally identifiable information (PII).

The DPU is a powerful machine learning device. It handles millions of computations per second, making Density both the most accurate way to measure space and the least invasive. 

To achieve this, we've invested heavily in its onboard computing and local algorithms.

What's the purpose of Density's shape and size? 

The aluminum chassis and physical dimensions of the DPU are designed to support variable installation types, a professional aesthetic, and comply with safety standards.

The 110mm² enclosure actually serves as a heat sink, cooling temperatures quickly. Our thermal model assumes peak power output; therefore, we’ve incorporated active cooling and necessary space for airflow.

What's the reason for Density's angle and mount?

  1. To provide the device the appropriate FOV to capture all throughput.
  2. It is also optimal for accuracy. The orientation and distance are ideal for our algorithm and infrared illumination.

How is size related to accuracy?

The DPU's components are so high speed that if placed too closely to one another, the electricity running through them will add noise to your data. This degrades its integrity and accuracy.

For this production we've laid our traces as close to one another as we feel comfortable without causing problems to "SNR" or signal to noise ratio.


In addition to the API, can I access my data through a dashboard? 

Yes. Both are available at any time during your pilot or production deployment.

You can access historical space utilization data through Density's out-of-the-box dashboard or by querying the API.
